A Message From The Head
Welcome to Rose Wood Academy
On behalf of the governors and staff, I would like to welcome you to our Rose Wood Academy Website. At Rose Wood we value every child and aim to ensure that they are happy and settled. I am privileged to be able to lead such a wonderful school, and to be given the opportunity to ensure that your child receives the very best education possible. This website is intended to provide general information about the school, key policies and details on how well it is performing. It includes general information about the school’s routines and more specific information about our educational provision. It is impossible to encapsulate all of the activities and experiences that make up what daily life is like at our school. However, we have tried to give you a flavour of what we are about. The school also uses the ‘Class Dojo’ system to regularly communicate with parents so regular updates, blogs and individual information about how children are doing is shared through that.
At Rose Wood Academy, children are at the centre of everything we do. We aim to give our children the best possible opportunities and learning experiences, enabling them to reach their full potential. We aim to ensure that the children in our care are equipped for life-long learning as responsible citizens in an ever-changing, diverse local and world-wide community. We believe that everyone has the capacity to become great if they have the courage to challenge themselves. We all have the responsibility to make this happen by nurturing creativity, enjoyment & ambition; learning and growing together. Children at Rose Wood are encouraged to find out about their own strengths and talents to allow them to strive to achieve the best they can all the time.
We take the safety and well-being of your children very seriously and safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We aim to be vigilant at all times and to work closely with you to keep your children happy and safe. To help work with us on this find out more from our safeguarding page here.
A high expectation underpins all we do and children continue to improve through understanding the process of learning and ongoing assessment. We try to create a curriculum that is matched to children’s next steps in learning and one which children have as much ownership of as the teachers. So learning is driven as much by what interests the children as it is by the national curriculum. This is supported by positive reinforcement of our expectations, awarding of ‘class dojo’ (our interactive rewards system) and other certificates in our weekly achievement assembly. School is far more than a place in which to work and learn. It is also a place where we begin to build relationships with other people, find out how to work collaboratively, develop a sense of ourselves, and discover how we as individuals fit into our world and society. We believe that it takes a whole community to educate a child, so we aim to work in partnership with parents, both individually and collectively. We are proud of our strong partnership which we already have with our parents and strive to improve it all of the time. We try to involve children as much as possible, giving them a range of responsibilities where they can lead initiatives and take a full and active role in school life. We also hope that as a parent / carer you will feel very much a part of this process. This website will give you a flavour of life at Rose Wood Academy, but if you are a parent, to get to know the school you need to see it working, engage with ‘Class Dojo’ and get into school to have a feel for what we are about. If you have any concerns then I am always happy to talk with you and welcome your feedback on how we are doing!
